azaadi.net is run by Pete Pattisson and Jo Hill. 'Azaadi' means freedom in Hindi. Pete Pattisson has spent years documenting modern forms of slavery around the world, and especially in India. He produced a photographic exhibition and book (right), which has been shown in the UK, USA, France, Switzerland and India. His work on slavery has been widely published, including in Intelligent Life magazine (see below right), the Sunday Telegraph, and the Independent. He was awarded honorary life membership of Anti-Slavery International, who he has worked closely with on a number of slavery projects, including The Cost of Living, a film documenting the experiences of migrant workers in the Middle East. Jo Hill has spent the last 13 years working on a wide range of social change projects, managing national and international programmes at UnLtd, the foundation for social entrepreneurs, Save the Children, the New Economics Foundation, One World International and Enterprise UK. In the last 18 months, Jo has helped raise over £3.5million of investment to support organisations to achieve significant social impact. |
